Posts for job after clearing SSC

In general, there are two posts for which a student is eligible after clearing SSC exam. They are Data Entry Operator and Lower Division Clerk. Also, a student who does not score very good marks in SSC might want to have other options available to him/her. There are some courses which can be pursued directly after SSC like automobile engineering, construction technology, computer engineering, digital electronics, telecommunication engineering, interior decoration, textile designing, commercial art, medical laboratory technology, leather and footwear technology and government jobs like clerk and stenographer.

Promotions for various posts

Below are the promotions for various posts:

1) After Examiner’s post: The first promotion is as Appraiser (Group-B Gazetted office). Then promotion occurs to the post of Assistant Commissioner, then Deputy Commissioner and finally Commissioner. The first promotion occurs after completing three year of service. Examiner post is considered to be the best among all CGLE posts. One of the major reasons is faster promotions as compared to the other posts of CGLE. This post is mainly for coastal regions.

2) Promotions in assistant in CSS

  • Section Officer (Group-B gazette Officer) (Grade Pay - Rs 4,800).
  • Section Officer (Group-A gazette Officer) (Grade Pay - Rs 5,400). It is after completion of four years of service at GP 4,800.
  • Under-Secretary (Grade Pay - 6,600). Based on performance & available vacancies.
  • Deputy-Secretary (Grade Pay - Rs 7,600). Based on performance & available vacancies.
  • Director (Grade Pay - Rs 8,700). Rarely possible for entrant through SSC.  

3) For Preventive officer: The first promotion for the post of preventive officer is as Superintendent (Group-B Gazetted office), then Assistant Commissioner, then Deputy Commissioner and finally Commissioner. The first promotion in this job is after completion of eight year of service after clearing departmental exam. Promotion period differs from zone to zone as there is zonal seniority. This post is mainly for coastal regions.

4) For Income tax inspector: First promotion in the post of income tax inspector is as Income Tax Officer (Group-B Gazetted office), then Assistant Commissioner, then Deputy Commissioner and finally Commissioner. One can get first promotion in this job after completion of eight year of service after clearing departmental exam. Promotion period differs from zone to zone due to zonal seniority. The additional advantage in this post is that one can entitled for 30 liter of petrol if posted on assessment seat. Also he/she gets a sim from the department on which all STD calls for BSNL/MTNL phones are free; and 400 minutes on other phones. This is an all India posting job.

5) For Central Excise Inspector: First promotion for Central Excise Inspector post is as Superintendent (Group-B Gazetted office), then Assistant Commissioner, then Deputy Commissioner and Finally Commissioner. One can get first promotion in this job after completing of eight year of service after clearing departmental exam. Promotion period differs from zone to zone since there is zonal seniority. This is an all India posting job.
