Here is detailed information of the test duration and format of the exam being conducted by IBPS for Probationary Officers:

1) Duration

The exam is conducted in online mode and is of 120 minutes (2 hours) duration.

2) Sections and Marks distribution

The maximum marks of the paper are 200 which is being distributed among the sections in the following manner:

  • Reasoning (50 marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)
  • English Language (40 marks)
  • General Awareness, with reference to Banking Industry (40 marks)
  • Computer Knowledge (20 marks)

3) Marking Scheme

Marks of each question would vary depending upon the total number of question being asked in that section, as the total marks of the question are determined. There is the provision of negative marking in the paper and each answer marked wrong by you would deduct 0.25 or One-Fourth of the marks allotted to that question.   

3) Normalization of Marks

As the exam is being conducted in several sessions the scores obtained in each section is being normalized using equipercentile method considering the difficulty-level of the questions being asked.
