There are two modes of JEE which are essentially the Joint Entrance Exam for students who wish to pursue engineering – JEE main and JEE advanced. Lakhs of student wanting to study engineering in the National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology other centrally founded Institutes and engineering colleges of a particular state appear for this exam every year. The Exam is conducted in both online and offline mode in different centers decided for it. General category students who have scored 115-120 marks in the JEE main and are in the top 20% of their respective boards exam for the class 12th are allowed to appear for the JEE advanced which is usually held around one and half month after the JEE main.
The JEE main is made up of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. The paper 1 is for people who want to study BE and B.Tech and Paper 2 is for people who want to study Barch and B.planning courses. Paper 1 is held both online as well as offline and paper 2 is held only offline. When applying for the JEE the students need to specify whether they want to appear for one or both the exams.
If you have passed the 12th board exam of your state and if your state is participating in JEE then you can appear for JEE main. As mentioned above if you get the requisite marks in the 12thstd board and JEE main then you can appear for JEE advanced. The JEE advanced exam is conducted by the IITs and the JEE main is the eligibility test for this exam. In the JEE advanced the students must appear for both the paper 1 and paper 2. If the students wish to study architectural courses offered by IIT then they have to clear another Architectural Aptitude test along with the main 2 papers and this test is conducted by seven zonal IITs. The registration for the AAT is online and the students who get higher marks than the cut off decided by the Joint Implementation Committee will be awarded the ‘pass’ status. Students can appear for the JEE main exam for 3 consecutive years, but only for 2 years for the advanced exam.
You can apply for JEE mains exam only through online mode and for this you have to log onto the official website of JEE main 2017. The forms for application will be available from the first week of December 2016. The information bulletin is available on the official site of the board and you should read it carefully. The last date of application is during the last week of December 2016.
The candidates interested in appearing for JEE advanced should apply online on the official website of JEE advanced. The process of registration usually starts from the last week of April. First of all you need to create an account so that the further procedure it can be activated.
The examination date for paper 1 and paper 2 of advanced JEE is during the last week of May 2017.
The JEE main offline exam will be held during the first week of April 2017 and the online exam will be held during the second week of April 2017.
